Product legality in the United Kingdom
Under UK law an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC) can be ridden on public roads and cycle paths with no licence, tax or insurance only if it has working pedals, a motor rated no higher than 250W, and motor assistance that cuts out at 15.5mph. The rider must be 14 or over.
Any kit or bike we sell that is rated above 250W, or that provides assistance above 15.5mph, or that drives the bike on throttle alone beyond walking pace, is not an EAPC. In the eyes of the law it is a motor vehicle. It cannot legally be used on a public road, cycle path or other public place unless it is registered with the DVLA, taxed, insured and ridden by someone holding the correct licence and wearing an approved helmet.
These higher powered products are sold for use on private land with the landowner's permission, and for off road use only. It is the buyer's responsibility to use them lawfully. We do not supply registration, type approval or insurance documents for them.
If you want a product you can ride legally on the road in the UK, choose one of our 250W road legal options.
Battery safety
Our lithium ion batteries are supplied with the charger they are designed for. Charging instructions and compatibility information are included with every order. Do not charge a battery with a charger it was not supplied with, do not charge unattended or while blocking an exit route, and stop using any battery that is damaged, swollen or has been in an impact. Contact us before using a replacement battery or charger from another supplier.
Pricing and content
We take care to keep prices, specifications and availability accurate. Errors do occasionally happen. If we find a pricing or specification error on an order we have accepted we will contact you before dispatch and you can confirm or cancel the order with a full refund.
